The Montello-Princeton co-op picked up its first victory since the schools joined forces at the beginning of the 2007 season, beating Oakfied 27-14 on Friday night in Princeton.
"It's been a long time coming. Everyone is pretty excited," said Montello-Princeton co-head coach Harlan Leusink after the game. "We actually put together a really good defensive game tonight and the offense got it when they needed it."
Brady Hartwig scored three of Montello-Princeton's four touchdowns in the game. His first came on a 40-yard interception return. He then put the Phoenix up 14-0 with a 7-yard TD run. He capped the night's scoring with a 28-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Matt Sosisnky also scored for the Phoenix, pulling in a 20-yard TD pass from Jake Lunow in the third quarter.
