Maranatha Baptist's Ollie Gibson plunged into the end zone to cut Rio's lead to 14-12 in the fourth quarter, but Rio's defense denied a pass for the two-point conversion try and the Vikings beat the Crusaders 14-12 Friday in their home opener.

Rio's Matt Selje finished with a game-high 138 rushing yards on 29 carries.
