Marie Geiger

BRIGGSVILLE - Marie Geiger, 78, of Briggsville, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital in Portage.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville, with Father Jim Murphy presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Briggsville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Marie was born July 6, 1930, in Briggsville, the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth Taylor Cleary. She was united in marriage to William Geiger on Sept. 17, 1949. Marie was a tailor for J.C. Penney Co. for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Briggsville. Marie was active in many organizations in the Briggsville area, including the Red Hat Society and the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was historian. Marie loved working on family genealogy.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; two children, Bill (Carol) Geiger, Jr. of Menomonee Falls, and Barb (John) Foss of Menomonee Falls; her son-in-law, Al Dryer of Portage; four grandchildren, Terry (Andrea) Perschbacher of Colgate, Joshua Dryer of Portage, Ashley (Rich) Nielsen of Pardeeville, and Erika Geiger of Menomonee Falls; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Perschbacher, Jeremiah and Harlan Nielsen; her brother, Jim (Mag) Cleary of Briggsville; her sister, Mary (Maurie) Zick of Briggsville; her sister-in-law, Carole Cleary of Portage; other relatives and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Debbie Dryer; a sister, Margie Cleary; and a brother, Joe Cleary.
