PORTAGE/BROOKFIELD - Phyllis Jean Haak, 61, of Brookfield, formerly of Portage, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan Woods in Brookfield.
Phyllis was born Jan. 20, 1948, in Portage, the daughter of Herman and Jean Martin Ziehmke Jr. She married Richard Haak at St. Raphael Cathedral on Sept. 25, 1971. Phyllis was a graphic designer and owned Computer Communiqués in Brookfield.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Brookfield; her father, Herman Ziehmke of Portage; her sisters, Jane Ziehmke of Waukesha, Kay Bryan of Madison, Gail (Dean) Meister of Brooklyn, Caryl (Richard) Biege of Sun Prairie, and Sue (Greg) Fahey of Carlsbad, Calif.; her brother, David (Patty) Ziehmke of Portage; six nieces; three nephews; five great-nieces; one great-nephew; aunts; uncles; many other relatives; and close friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother, Jean; her mother-in-law, Frances Padrutt Haak; and her father-in-law, Melvin E. Haak.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. July 3 at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Paula Bremer officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.
