PORTAGE - Karen Clemmons, 63, of Portage, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Karen was born July 31, 1945, in West Allis, the daughter of John and Evelyn St. Aubin Wielgus. She married Tom Clemmons on Oct. 31, 1964, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage. She retired after many years from GTE-Verizon. Karen was an avid crafter, especially crocheting.
Karen is survived by her husband, Tom; daughters, Susan (Chuck) Mayberry of Panama City, Fla., and Cheryl (Donn) Paul of Portage; grandchildren, Jessica Kelly-Paul, Joshua Mayberry, Nicholas Paul, Bryce Paul, and Thomas Mayberry; brothers, Bill (Doris) Wielgus of West Allis, Bob (Marlene) Wielgus of Lake Delton and Jerry (Karen) Wielgus of North Lake; sister, Barb (Ed) Kuhlmey of Trego; sister-in-law, Faye Wielgus of Portage; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dan, in 1999; and her brother, Jack Wielgus.
A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Dick Inglett officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
