FOX LAKE - Audrey L. Fietz, 75, and formerly of Randolph, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at her home in Fox Lake.
Audrey was born Sept. 24, 1933, in the town of Courtland, Columbia County, a daughter of Jacob and Agnes Mossel Alderden. She attended local schools and graduated from Randolph High School. Audrey was a lifelong area resident, who was employed at several local businesses including the Melrose grocery store, the canning factory and the local printing company. On May 14, 1955, she married John F. Fietz at First Reformed Church in Randolph. She was employed for more than 20 years at Feil's Supper Club, where she was responsible for food preparation and occasionally served as hostess. Audrey loved to travel, often joining the Feil's bus tours. She especially enjoyed the gambling trips. Audrey was a loving wife, devoted mom and adoring grandma. She was a longtime member of Randolph United Methodist Church, where she was formerly active as a trustee and currently served on the Lay Leadership committee. Audrey was a past member of the Randolph VFW Auxiliary.
Audrey is survived by her three children, Kory and his wife Kari, Heidi and her husband Bret and Nicole and her husband Allen; and five grandchildren, Kody, Karisa, Isaac, Aiden, Ahren and a granddaughter expected in October. She is further survived by two sisters, Melrose (Jerry) Van Dyke of Randolph, and Inez Bryden of Ripon; her brother, Robert (Karen) Alderden of Fox Lake; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by John, her husband of nearly 50 years; parents; a brother, James Alderden; a sister, Betty Rahn; and two brothers-in-law, Marv Rahn and Cliff Bryden.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Randolph United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Randolph Community Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the church.
A memorial fund has been established in Audrey's name.
