PORTAGE - Bernice A. Paske, 91, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at The Remington House in Pardeeville.

She was born June 30, 1918, in Monmouth, Iowa, to Russell and Phoebe Lainberger Thurston. Bernice was united in marriage to Vilian Paske on Aug. 30, 1941, he preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1996. She was a homemaker, enjoyed baking, crocheting, embroidering, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include three sister-in-laws, Angela Hosig, Joyce Paske and Doris Paske, all of Portage; one brother-in-law, LaVerne Paske of Portage; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Laura Frank and Zetta Hopp, brother, Lyle Thurston Sr. and also by Arless and Ruth Paske, Glenn and Ruth Paske, Willard and Merna Paske, Herman Paske, Chuck Hosig and Loretta Paske.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Portage, with the Rev. Jeffrey Teeple officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Portage. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Picha Funeral Home, Portage, is assisting the family.
