Harold A. Stancer

CAMBRIA - Harold A. Stancer, 79, of Cambria, passed away peacefully Monday, June 15, 2009.

Harold was born April 18, 1929, in Marcellon Township, the son of Roy and Thelma Stebbins Stancer. He served his country in the Army. He was united in marriage to Joan Neesam on Feb. 16, 1948, in Fort Knox, Ky. Harold worked for Neesam Trucking and retired from National Automatic Sprinkler. He enjoyed puttering in the yard, and kept his lawn meticulous. He will be remembered as man that would help anyone. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cambria, as well as the Cambria American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joan of Cambria; four children, Jill Waters of Cambria; Brian (Mary) Stancer of Park Falls, Todd Stancer of Iowa and Melissa (Tom) Boomsma of Rio; seven granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; brother, Byron (Pat) Stancer of Rio; sister, Shirly Miller of DeForest; special friends; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Stancer; sister, Lois; brother-in-law, Jim Miller.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Cambria. Pastor Kristin Frederich will preside. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
