CAMBRIA - Myrtle M. Youngs, 86, of Cambria, continued her journey to the Lord with her family at her side on Sunday evening, Oct.18, 2009, at the Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Randolph.

Mrytle was born March 25, 1923, on her family's farm, the daughter of Earl and Esther (Hein) Scharf. She attended a local country grade school and the Portage High School. On June 27, 1945, Myrtle was united in marriage to Harold Youngs at St. Paul's Evangelical Church. Following their marriage, they farmed until moving to the village of Cambria where they resided since.

Myrtle was seasonally employed at area canning factories and also was busy being a devoted homemaker. Mrytle will always be remembered as an avid card player and for socializing with everyone she knew over the phone; sewing; Artex painting; sequence/beading calendars; which she gave to her family as gifts; listening to Christian music; and sharing her delicious baked goods with her neighbors and church families. Myrtle was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church in Poynette and a current member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church in rural Cambria, where she was a member of the church's Ladies Guild.

Myrtle is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold Youngs of Cambria; her four sons, Eldon (Cathy) Youngs of Madison, Vern (Joyce) Youngs of Plainfield, Ill., Russell Youngs of River Falls and Wally (Mary) Youngs of Randolph; one daughter, Beverly (Bob) Baumler of Columbus; one daughter-in-law, Barb Youngs of Portage; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several other relatives; and dear friends.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gordon Scharf; one son, David Youngs, in 1975; and her grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, Kevin and Troy Youngs.

Myrtle's family would like to extend their gratefulness to Dr. Hansell, the staff at Golden Living Center and Hillside Hospice for the unconditional loving care that they provided to Myrtle throughout her illness.

Funeral services for Myrtle will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at St. Paul's Evangelical Church, Inglehart Road in the town of Scott. The Rev. William Heisler will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, and at the church on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials may be directed in Mrytle's name to Hillside Hospice or St. Paul's Evangelical Church.
