PACKWAUKEE - John Frederick Schuman, 90, of Packwaukee, passed away at his home Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008.
He was born April 26, 1918, the son of Fred and Minnie Hillmer Schuman, in the township of Packwaukee, where he lived his entire life. He was a farmer most of his life and retired from farming. He also worked for 12 years at Oxford Structures Ltd., and dug graves for many years.
John married Arzella Aurand on Oct. 7, 1967, who preceded him in death. John later married Evelyn Laverence on Sept. 27, 1975; she also preceded John in death. On July 22, 1995, John was united in marriage to Christine Matijevich Ingraham.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Schuman of Packwaukee; son, Rick, (girlfriend Shannon) Bolton; daughters, Diane Krueger, Betty (Jim) Brock, Cindy (Gary) Flower, Julie Lee, Kristina (Dan) Olson and Ann Bankson; 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ray Matijevich; many brothers and sisters-in-law; special nephews, Ron Polinske, Marshall Jr., Greg and Brian Matijevich; other relatives and many, many dear friends. John was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Adeline; and brother-in-law, William. John felt great pain in the passing of Diane's husband, Irv Krueger.
A memorial service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, with visitation starting at 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Packwaukee, with the Rev. Brian Rohde officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Montello City Cemetery.
John was a good man. He was always ready to help anyone. He will be sadly missed. Our home is now empty, but John is with Our Lord.
