A bachelorette party at Chula Vista was stalled - literally - Saturday night for more than an hour when six women became stuck in an elevator.
Kilbourn Fire Chief Tory Wolfram said the department was dispatched at 8:40 p.m. to rescue the women, who had been stuck in the elevator for about 45 minutes.
The elevator was stalled between the first and second floor of a condo at the resort. The women had lost contact with the outside world about 30 minutes prior to the fire department's arrival.
Emergency medical personnel were also called to assist, because the women's status was unclear.
"When the firemen opened the hatch, they wondered if we were really firemen or if we were strippers," Wolfram said.
Within 30 minutes, the women, including the bride-to-be, were taken through the top hatch of the elevator, up the elevator shaft and onto the second floor of the condo.
"Fortunately for Chula, they had the right people stuck in an elevator," Wolfram said. "They were in good spirits. They wanted nothing but pictures with us when they got out."
The firemen had no problems rescuing the women as they had previously gone through elevator rescue training with Kone, an elevator company, at Chula Vista, Wolfram said.
