Between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to 38 calls.

Intersection of Albert and Haertal streets: At 3:37 a.m. Thursday, police stopped a vehicle for improper stopping and speeding. The driver, Daniel L. Bednar, 21, of Portage, was arrested and charged with drunken driving as a second offense. Bednar reportedly registered a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.106 on a preliminary Breathalyzer test, police said. The legal limit to drive in Wisconsin is 0.08.

Wal-Mart, 2950 New Pinery Road: Police at 12:30 a.m. Friday took a report of money stolen from a wallet that was accidentally left in a restroom. The wallet was recovered in a garbage container with cash missing.

Portage Police Department, 117 W. Pleasant St.: At 12:25 p.m. Friday, police took a report of University of Wisconsin tickets taken from a vehicle a few weeks ago.

Blystone Towing and Radiator Inc., 1201 W. State Highway 33: Police at 1:43 p.m. Friday took a report of the theft of a wallet from a vehicle parked at Blystone after it was towed. The vehicle was unlocked.

100 block of West Cook Street: Police at 9:02 a.m. Monday took a report of two businesses hit by blaze orange paintballs.

500 block of East Conant Street: At 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a call of a disturbance. Cle A. Gray, 35, of Portage, was arrested and tentatively charged with battery, disorderly conduct, felony bail jumping and misdemeanor bail jumping after he reportedly pushed a woman down and held a hand over her mouth as he straddled her. Gray was taken to the Columbia County Jail.
