Alfred Gordon Lynch

RACINE - Alfred Gordon Lynch, 79, formerly of the Marquette County area, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, while attending the Green Bay Packers game.

Alfred was born during a blizzard Jan. 12, 1929, at the home of his grandparents in Columbia County, the son of John and Elsie Haeberkorn Lynch.

He was united in marriage to Dolores Burk on Nov. 25, 1950, at St. Mary Church in Kingston. Fourteen children blessed their marriage.

Al was active in the community where he lived, giving of his time and talents. When living in Marquette County from 1951 to 1972, he was a member of the St. Andrew Church, and served on the Parish Council for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Montello, as well as a lifetime member of the Lions Club, serving as president for two terms. He served on the Montello School Board for numerous years, and volunteered as a firefighter for the Dalton Fire Department.

For 21 years, Dolores and Al lived in Sharon, where he was owner and operator of Sharon Farm Supply. He also served as village president for 16 years, and serving on the board for four years. They later resided in Elkin, N.C., and moved back to Wisconsin this last September.

His hobbies included reading, walking and sporting events.

Al was referred to as "a man with a plan." His love for his family and friends was great. He will be remembered in the hearts of all those that loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores; he was the devoted father of Thomas (Suzanne) of Alabama, Catherine (friend, Paul Truckey) of Oconto Falls, Harry (Eleanor) of Orfordville, Christy Turner (Winfield) of North Carolina, Michael (Christine) of Sharon, JoAnn Bartowitz (Gregg) of Wauwatosa, Karla Griffin (Gerald) of Hillsboro, Geralynn Kaminski (Timothy) of Baraboo, Rita Eiswald (Kenneth) of North Carolina, Maria Dalziel of Germantown, Loretta of Caledonia, Diana Manley of Caledonia, and Patrick (Jane) of Greendale; 45 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Joseph (Lorraine) of Portage; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and out-laws; other near relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas; sister, Loretta; son, Kevin, in 1963; and granddaughters, Natasha in 1986 and Anna in 1998.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church in Pardeeville. Father John Hedrick will preside. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville, on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m., where the rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Thursday morning at the church, one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Foundation.
