MONTELLO - A town of Packwaukee man could spend eight years in prison after authorities said he struck a girl and threatened to kill her.
James R. Walters, 39, is free on a $1,000 signature bond.
He is scheduled for an initial appearance Monday on charges of felony child abuse, intentionally causing harm and felony intimidation of a victim by use of force.
Authorities said Walters hit a 13-year-old girl with a curling iron, dragged the girl off a bed by her ankles causing her to strike her head on an open dresser drawer, and twice threatened to kill her.
The charges carry a maximum initial prison penalty of eight years in prison and fines of $35,000.
